A Work-in-Progress

This month I received my first Gotta Craft monthly kit which is absolutely gorgeous I might add! The minute I saw it I knew exactly what I would do with it. I have had some photo's printed out for a while now from a day trip we took to the Ards Forest NP and I am using the kit to make a mini album of that day. I think the colours suit the photo's really well. So yesterday I made a start on the album itself so now I just need to arrange the photo's and make everything look pretty.

The Tale of 2 Brothers

The 2 brothers in question are Zac & Joshua, my furbaby twins. This photo is one of my favourites of the two of them sitting together on the window sill in my craft room.

I kept this layout simple, taking inspiration from a Prima sketch that was chosen by Heather, our team leader in The Rik Rak Ravers. I used brushed corduroy distress ink to edge the white cardstock, tore strips of scrap papers and layered them with some braiding and finished off with some Prima flowers and pearls. The 'family' sticker I used for the centre of the large flower was taken from a sheet of Melissa Frances themed stickers.

One of many cat / dog layouts that I am hoping to share with you over the next few months as I build up an album dedicated to all my furbabies.

Special Birthdays

There are a lot of special birthdays amongst my family and friends over the next few months and I have been busy making cards. Some of them I can share with you now and others will have to wait until after the birthdays have gone so that I dont give away any spoilers!

Yesterday was the 18th birthday of my nephew and this is his card :

Today is my brother-in-law's birthday and this is the card I made for him:

Today is also the 40th birthday of my very good friend Lisa and this is the card I made for her:

Lisa runs a Twilight social group that I am a member of on UKS and along with some of the other ladies from the group we put together a Twilight Journal for Lisa's birthday surprise.  This is the page I did for the journal, it is my favourite quote from Eclipse x

There are many more cards to follow as we have lots of birthdays in November and December and one very special boy is going to be sweet 16 on the 4th of January too, I wonder who that could be ??  xx

Sketches and Challenges

I have such a lot of blogging to catch up on after being poorly at the beginning of the month. Maybe it was the fact that I had my 40th birthday last week and my body went into to shock! Im lacking in energy at the moment but am on the up now, so only a matter of time before I am back to full-working order.

It has been a while since I posted anything creative so I have quite a few creations to share.

This first layout was made for my team challenge on UKS. I am a proud member of The Rik Rak Ravers and this week it was our turn to set the weekly challenge. You can see the thread for the challenge - here  The photo's are of our 3 gorgeous children. I used Bo Bunny pp, E Line pearls and Prima fabric flowers. The trade mark Ric Rak was coloured to match the papers using an ink pad and then stuck down to form the inner circle. The metal butterfly embellishments were coloured in using peel-off pens.

This next layout was also put together for a challenge on UKS back in October.
This challenge was set by Suzysnail :
Use
- random misting or splattering of paint on background
- use numbers
- use symbol
- use ribbon

The photo here is of my darling Zac. He is such an elegant cat and loves to pose for the camera. I used Glimmer Mists to transform my kraft cardstock. The number 1 was used in my title '1 Purrfect Pose' and a very deserving symbol was the glittered crown that I placed on Zac's head. To add the finishing touches I used a gold/cream two tone ribbon to create loops along the top of the orange paper. This is the first of many cat / dog layouts I am planning on doing so watch out for more to come.

This final layout was done for a sketch challenge using a Anna Bowkis sketch. At the beginning of October we had unseasonably warm weather. This photo of my husband and son was taken on 9th October on our local beach. If only every day could be so warm!
