A New Look, A Blog Launch and Pup Update - Departures :(

Well, next time I decide to change the look of my Blog somebody stop me!!! Crikey, it's hell out there in cyber world with HTML codes and image uploads and when techy minded people say 'its as easy as A B C' I'm gonna run a mile the other way.  That said, I've learnt a little and am now happy-ish with the new look although there will be some tweaking in the next day or two Im sure.

I have also launched my new fur-baby blog - Pawprints On My Heart - if anyone fancies a nosey. A few people have asked if I will continue the Pup Updates and others like to know how all the kitty-kats are so this blog will be purr-fect (excuse the pun!) for keeping up to date on the fur-baby goings on, allowing my craft blog to get back to the business of being crafty.  On that note this will be the final Pup Update on here but for anyone wanting to following the progress of Mia, Bruno & Jackson regular updates and pics will be posted on the fur-babies blog.

The Final Pup Update - Departures

Saturday saw the departure of 4 chocolate drops. I am really happy with all the homes the pups have gone to but even so it didnt stop me being a complete mush when they left :(  The kennel certainly looks empty now although the rate at which our 3 are growing I'm sure they'll fill it soon enough.

We had the pups in the sunroom at the weekend ready to meet their new families and when the leavers had gone, it was playtime for the Morrison 3 and Mr Green. As Mr Green is here with us until early next week I'm grabbing extra cuddles with him while I can.

Mia Pinkerton was there too but somehow managed to avoid having her photo taken so I'll have to make sure we get extra for next time.

Pup Update - 7 weeks old

Wow the time is flying. The pups are now 7 weeks old and have had their micro-chips inserted - Ouch! and the first of their puppy vaccinations. They will shortly be going to their forever homes and I'm pleased to report that all 5 pups that are leaving us have now been chosen by lovely families and most of them have new names too.

Miss Rose and Miss Yellow are now known as Jessie and Lucy and will be the first to leave this coming weekend :(  They are going to live in the beautiful countryside of Co Mayo together so Im thrilled that they will have each other for company.

Mr Red is now known as Diesel and will be going to live not too far from us just outside Derry. Mr Lime is now known as Thomas and will be living with a young family in Letterkenny and Mr Green has yet to be named as the family couldn't agree on a name just yet and he will be living 5 minutes up the road from us so I will get to see him as he grows up.

The weather here lately has been unseasonably warm and sunny which has been great for the pups. They have been outside lots over the past few days exploring and playing. So onto some cute pics:

The next pup update will be the final update on this blog as the pups leave us, but as a few people have asked me to continue with the updates and pics of the 3 pups we are keeping I have decided to do a separate blog for all things furry as just lately they have overtaken my craft blog almost completely. Im in the process of setting up another blog and will let you all know when its up and running - watch this space!

Scrapbook page in a frame - BFF

Way back in April during the UKScrappers CC I took part in a class by Sharon Sims called 'Mayfair'.  The page I created was actually chosen as the class winner and you can see that page here. Well I enjoyed making that LO so much that I thought I would have another go, using the class guidelines to inspire me. This is what I came up with:

Best Friends

This is my daughter and her best friend. I framed the page in a box-frame and we actually gave this to Amy's friend for her birthday and she was thrilled with it. That make two of us!

Finally some creativity - Twilight ATC Swap

Lately my blog has been totally overtaken by fur, be it canine or feline, so its great to be able to post about some crafting again. During September I took part in an  ATC swap on UKScrappers. The theme was The Twilight Saga, so when it came to me choosing a picture for me ATC it had to be Edward. These are my contribution to the swap:

At the end of the month I received these fantastic ATC's back from the host:

This is the first ATC swap that I have be involved in and I really enjoyed it. It was great to received everyone's ATC and I will certainly be on the look out for more swaps.

Pup Update - 5 (And a bit!) Weeks old

Here it is finally - albeit a little later than planned :)

As time is of the essence and there's not much to update on the pups other than that everyone is doing great and growing big, Im going to let the photo's speak for themselves in this update.

Looking too cute!

A WIP and some introductions

Finally I get time to sit and catch up on my blog. Having the pups has pretty much over-shadowed everything else that has been going on over the past month, especially my crafting. I should have known better than to sign-up for the Shimelle class Learn Something New Everyday as my time was already packed out for September, but I went ahead and sign-up anyway and low and behold I made it to day 10 before things went kaput! I have tried to gather notes each day so that I can go back and finish the class at a time when I am not so busy but for now my Learn Something New Everyday has been shelved as a 'Work In Progress'.

So, onto the new additions to our family!

We got chickens!!  4 months after the chicken coop was finished Eugene finally decided to pick up our hens the weekend before the pups were due. Talk about timing. They stayed within the coop for the first couple of weeks to give the dogs time to get used to them before we let them have the free run of the yard. They love being outside and I really enjoy watching them roaming around. The coop is open all the time so they can get in whenever they want to but I do like to see them 'free'. The dogs are fine with them. After a few pecks on the nose the hens certainly had them in their place.

We are only getting one egg each morning at the moment but hopefully the other hens will start to lay soon.

Meet Meg:

Last Friday there was a special appeal from our local rehoming centre for Meg a 5 year old tabby cat who has one eye and half of her tail missing. Her elderly owner had died and she was not settling too well in the  cattery at the centre. My heart went out to her immediately as she looks just like my Whisker Biscuit albeit so much smaller. Needless to say we went to fetch her that evening. She is settling fine with us and she loves cuddles. At the moment she is not too happy about the other cats and there has been hissing from both sides but this will settle down in time.

While we were at the rehoming centre I got chatting to Jacqueline about another cat I had seen an appeal for in their monthly newsletter a couple of months back called Lola. I was so very tempted to offer Lola a home but had to resist what my heart was feeling as we had so much going on with the pups due. I was sure she would find a loving home after people saw her appeal so I was heart broken to find out that she was still at the centre. Jacqueline said lots of people had come forward to see her but no-one offered her a home as she was so timid and frightened and would not come out of her box.

I went down into the cattery to see her and face was scrunched up so tightly you could hardly see her eyes. The minute I saw her I knew I would be taking her home with me. So, meet Lola:

We had to forcible remove her from the box she was hiding in to get her into to the carrier. In the car I stroked her face through the carrier and spoke to her and by the time we got home she had started to relax her face a little. She is settling in slowly and is going to needs lots of time and patience to gain confidence but already in just a few short days she has come on so much. She is so beautiful I wished now that I had listened to my heart and not my head and brought her home a couple of months ago.

And as my fur-babies now total 9 this quote I saw on a keyring (which I bought for myself!) is proving to be so true - in my case anyway!

'CATS ARE LIKE CHOCOLATES . . . .
. . . .   IT'S HARD TO HAVE JUST ONE'
